MERKUR

 The MERKUR brand, which originated in Solingen, has existed for over 125 years. It is known for manufacturing sophisticated and high-quality safety razors with double blades in Germany.

Skilled craftsmen apply their expertise and attention to detail to create metal masterpieces. In doing so, they are all challenged to exceed the standards of the Solingen Ordinance by passing on the cutlery expertise that has been handed down for generations.
MERKUR was founded in 1806 by Emil Hermes. 
DOVO or the Kirschbaum family took over Merkur in 1996. 
The German company DOVO with its subsidiary MERKUR in Solingen is one of Europe's most important manufacturers of classic razor blade razors, the so-called safety razors. In 2006, DOVO celebrated its 100th anniversary in Solingen. With its second brand MERKUR, the company is one of the Solingen-based companies with the best reputation.
Ulrich Wiethoff has been the sole owner of the Solingen-based MERKUR company since 1996.
