Elegance in Ebony – Double Liner, Deep Craft

Only the core wood of ebony is used for this knife — typically sourced from Africa. It may show subtle brown streaks, a natural sign of authenticity. One scale features seven inlaid pins forming the traditional shepherd’s cross, giving rise to the poetic title of the “world’s smallest chapel” often used to describe Laguiole knives with this Christian symbol.

The bee (mouche) and spring (ressort) are forged from a single piece of steel and are hand-guilloché’d in the manner of a goldsmith — using only a file and graver.

The liner (platine) is the inner metal layer used to affix the handle scales. In this double liner (double platine) version, the cutler has extra room to showcase their mastery — a specialty in traditional French knifemaking.
