This HEROLD hanging strop is identical in construction to the DOVO model, item no. 185 35001. The handle is a metal bracket without rivets. 
A fine lime paste, which is white in color, is suitable for pasting the canvas side. However, this should not be applied to the leather side of the strap. Grease and grinding pastes are used for this.
The leather is purely vegetable-tanned and manufactured by HEROLD in Solingen.
