Item No. A-500 features a small triangle stamp on the side of the metal head (see second photo). The slot marking on the upper adjustment cap must point toward this triangle symbol on the lower blade holder.
As early as the 1950s, the MERKUR 500 PROGRESS was among the first safety razors on the market with an adjustable blade gap. At the end of the handle there is a knob that can be turned, which also loosens the top cap. This changes the distance between the firmly clamped blade and the safety bar.
With a small blade gap, the razor provides a mild setting suitable for daily facial shaving. The larger the gap, the more efficient and close the shave becomes. Skin type, skin condition and beard thickness all influence the final setting, which is made easier by the numbered adjustment scale.
When inserting the blade, proper centering is important and should be done by holding the short, blunt sides of the blade. Handle and lower base plate form one unit in this two-piece design. A blade for the first shave is included, so you can start immediately.
Please note: safety razors are hygiene products and are excluded from return or exchange.
