The OPINEL No. 8 EFILE is a slim stainless steel pocket knife designed for precise slicing and delicate cutting tasks. With a blade thickness of only 1.5 mm, the narrow Effilé profile delivers exceptional sharpness and control, making it especially popular among anglers in France.
The blade is made from Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel, hardened to 56 HRC, offering corrosion resistance, reliable edge retention and easy maintenance. The traditional Virobloc safety ring, introduced in 1955 and used from size No. 6 upward, secures the blade in both open and closed positions. In practical terms: it stays exactly where you want it.
The handle is crafted from Padouk wood, shaped in a gently tapering pistol-style form. As a natural material, each handle varies in grain and tone. Padouk is a dense, hard wood often referred to as coral wood, known for its durability and warm reddish appearance.
A defining feature of this model is the sharpness of the slender blade, capable of producing almost translucent fish fillets when handled with skill. Lightweight at only 30 grams, it is an elegant and practical companion for outdoor use and fine cutting work.
