Colonel Rex Applegate, 1914 - 1998, trained Allied special forces in close combat.
He also founded the “School for Spies and Assassins”. So a training center for spies and assassins.
His books deal with close-combat techniques, and he also developed and improved combat knives.
William E. Fairbairn, 1885-1960, was a British naval and police officer who developed his own fighting system elegantly named “Defendu.” Today, both men can be considered masters of the martial arts.
The training knife presented here is used for training purposes, to match the real thing in terms of size and shape, but unlike the real thing, it does not cause injury. This means that children and young people can also use it. In film and theater – provided the prop is not used as a prank – it is used to perform fight and battle sequences. This avoids unexpected vacancies, i.e. job ads for performing personnel.
Because the real model is, of course, equipped with a sharp blade and looks deceptively like a “theatre knife”.
The credo of the two gentlemen, by the way, is: no fair play, no rules, just kill or be killed.
So the spy preferred to stay out in the cold.
Any questions?
