The model URALTDEUTSCH (ancient German) of an EICHENLAUB knife is the original, older design. It has been proving its quality for 130 years. In contrast to the ALTDEUTSCH variant, it is broader in stature. However, both shapes fit in with all the other cutlery parts, which have been manufactured under the crown M since 1910, in their other dimensions.
Two EICHENLAUB branches, with the initials of the married couple Merten superimposed on them, reveal their maker.
It goes without saying that such craftsmanship requires appropriate care, which demands manual skill. This cutlery must not be seen by a dishwasher.
Oak from Germany and Eastern Europe was chosen for the handles. The wood is dense, robust and has a subtle light color. Do you prefer a darker version? I also have one from EICHENLAUB.
Brass rivets were carefully driven in through wood and steel. Otherwise, the fine wood could be damaged.
