EICHENLAUB offers a two-piece fish cutlery set with handles made of Honduras.
Unlike other table knives, the blade of a fish knife must not be sharpened. Because if it were to cut through fish bones, it could cause fatal choking when eating. So if there are vegetables with the fish, such as asparagus, a table knife is also used.
A classic, forged from a single piece and made in Solingen since 1900. The ultimate bread-handle cutlery set.
It requires more than 120 different steps, all done by hand, before it is finished. I grew up with these cutlery sets, and I have even inherited older ones. I have known EICHENLAUB since I was born, I have drunk from its handles, I am on first-name terms with every rivet, I wear oak leaves instead of a laurel wreath...
Sorry, I'm feeling a bit queasy, my euphoria is getting the better of me.
Honduras, a type of rosewood, comes from Central America. There is only a small amount available, it is in demand above all in Asia and as a result is now one of the most expensive woods in the world. The handle shells used for EICHENLAUB come from an “eco-logging system”. Ultimately, they are used for fine cutlery, stationery, wind instruments and xylophones. The marimba and the xylophone have wooden bars. In the 16th century in Germany, they were referred to as “wooden laughter”.
