JEROME LAMIC, a knifemaker who was awarded the title “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” in 2015, worked for several years as a co-founder of the Vent d'Aubrac knife factory. scharfer Laden still stocks examples of this French coutellerie, whose products were always recognizable by a VA on the ricasso. Unfortunately, the company no longer exists.
So now their masterful makers are free and still exclusively producing individual pieces. LAMIC prefers to use the easily sharpenable 12C28N Sandvik steel, which is recommended for knife applications due to its sharp and stable edges and high corrosion resistance.
If you open the blade, you will see the initials JL inside.
Desert ironwood is considered one of the most precious materials of all. It may only be harvested as deadwood and is mostly taken from the Sonoran Desert.
Plein Manche means a handle construction without mitres, i.e. without jaws. This reduces the overall weight, but also requires a fine finish of the end pieces. The finely chased engravings of a feather and a rare medallion of a BOAR are proof of the high level of craftsmanship of a master. The tusks of a wild boar are only so prominent in the male animal, the boar, not in a sow. In hunter's jargon, they are also referred to as the “guns” of the black coat. The sow doesn't need them. With piglets at her side, she too becomes very defensive. As a precaution, there is a shepherd's cross in the handle in case of kneeling, when escape by the hunter is no longer possible.
Wood is a natural material. As such, each copy is different in character, which does not allow the manufacturer to make any complaints. A good hunter.
