This grinding aid is pulled onto the back of the knife to ensure the correct angle when grinding. It is used for symmetrically ground knives to maintain the same angle on both sides. If you also attach a piece of tape to the same place beforehand, you will avoid scratches in any case.
GRINDING INSTRUCTIONS for water stones:
The stone should be allowed to soak in water for about ten minutes. It should always be wet during sharpening. You can also sprinkle it with water. This acts as a lubricant. The knife should be at an angle of 15–20 degrees to the whetstone and then honed over the stone, i.e. pushed back and forth with light pressure.
During the grinding process, a powder is created that aids the grinding process. Knives that are sharpened on one side should be sharpened 80% at the front and 20% at the back, and those sharpened on both sides 70% at the front and 30% at the back. Whereby the front is on the right for right-handed people and on the left for left-handed people. After sharpening, the knife must be washed with lukewarm water and dried well.
