GRINDING INSTRUCTIONS for water stones:
The stone should soak up liquid in water for 10 minutes. It must also always be wet during grinding, so sprinkle it as necessary. This is because water acts like a lubricant. The knife should be at an angle of 15 - 20 degrees to the whetstone and is then dragged across the stone, i.e. pushed back and forth with light pressure.
Tip: You can achieve this angle automatically with my grinding aids, which are simply clipped onto the back of the knife.
During the sharpening process, a powder is created that supports the sharpening process. Knives sharpened on one side should be sharpened 80% at the front and 20% at the back, and 70% at the front and 30% at the back on both sides. The front is on the right for right-handers and on the left for left-handers. I also offer single-edged knives and serrated knives for left-handers.
After sharpening, the knife should be rinsed with lukewarm water and dried thoroughly. If your knives need a new basic grind, I recommend sending them to me, regardless of whether they are Solingen knives or knives from other manufacturers.
To dress whetstones, i.e. to make them flat again: Cover a sheet of glass with fine sandpaper, then drag the stone over it until it is smooth and flat again. Because sharp is beautiful.
