Founded by Friedrich Wilhelm Hartkopf, an experienced pocket knife maker with a passion for sharp blades, the workshop has remained dedicated to true handcraft and preserving Solingen’s knife-making heritage for over 130 years.

Each FRIEDRICH HARTKOPF knife is assembled by hand and carefully fitted and finished. Small variations, fine grinding marks and individual fitting are not flaws, but visible signs of real craftsmanship. Depending on the model, blades are made from 1.4110 stainless steel, classic carbon steel or hand-forged Damascus steel, with typical hardness values around 56 Rockwell. This ensures good edge retention, easy resharpening and long service life in everyday use.

Handle materials include natural options such as stag horn, ebony, olive wood, bunthorn, oak, redwood and snakewood. Each handle has its own grain and feel, making every knife unique.
