The leather comes from German slaughter animals of the best quality with local tanning.
This HEROLD belt is used primarily for honing fine special knives, such as laboratory and microtome knives. The latter are used to create very thin section preparations. I would like to say “carpaccio” for research purposes. These were mainly carried out at the medical faculty in Heidelberg, where this model was always ordered for this purpose. It is used for fine honing with paste. And it was popular with Solingen home workers for the final fine sanding.
It is not recommended for straight razors. For these, strop belts with more length and width are preferred.
HEROLD has been making strop leather since 1919. All types of leather are tanned purely with plant-based products and produced in-house in Solingen. “Never a failure, every HEROLD a hit.” But that only applies to the originals, not the replicas.
