Is every beginning difficult? Not necessarily, with the right tools the first hurdles can be easily overcome.
For children between the ages of 6 and 9, HERDER offers the model LITTLE CHEF; from the age of 10, it's called BIG CHEF.
A bulky, slightly angled, non-slip handle provides a firm hold. The “young chef” is not aimed primarily at boys, but at beginners of any age. The rounded tip and blade shape are designed for rocking cutting movements, which can look rather clumsy in some people, regardless of age. The knife is suitable for young people aged ten and up. As they mature, the knife can be sharpened to a point later on.
For people with my brother's talent, this process should be avoided for safety's sake. For him, as an “old chef” beyond the age of fifty, the round grind is still in the interest of the general public.
