A traditional wet shave simply isn’t complete without a high-quality shaving brush. In my specialist shop, you’ll find premium brushes in a variety of materials: classic Silvertip badger hair, pure badger hair, and durable boar bristles. The selection is complemented by Silvertip Fibre synthetic brushes from the renowned German brand MÜHLE.
Badger hair is widely regarded as the finest material for shaving brushes. When wet, it becomes exceptionally soft and retains a natural elasticity. This combination allows for gentle yet effective lather application and impressive foam quality. Thanks to its natural resilience, a badger hair brush can last for many years—provided it’s well cared for.
Silvertip badger refers to the light, soft tips of the highest-grade badger hair. These delicate fibres—also known as "flags"—are extremely flexible and create a luxuriously creamy lather that pampers the skin while ensuring a close and comfortable shave. Each brush head is hand-tied, resulting in small, individual variations in shape that have no negative impact on performance—only proof of true craftsmanship.
Boar bristle brushes are known for their sturdiness and are particularly suitable for those who prefer a firmer feel during lathering. Though stiffer than badger hair, boar bristles offer excellent longevity and produce a rich, dense lather with just a little practice.
To keep your shaving brush in excellent condition for years to come, follow these simple rules:
Never press the brush directly onto your skin or shaving soap. Instead, use side-to-side strokes like a painter’s brush to avoid damaging the hairs.
Rinse the brush thoroughly with lukewarm water after each use—never with boiling water.
Gently shake out excess water and allow the brush to dry hanging in a well-ventilated area.
Do not use disinfectants or harsh cleaners, as these can damage the hair structure.
