Dishwasher safe with a polypropylene handle, this knife is ideal for all lovers of hot chestnuts. In cold seasons, this knife is an incredible asset in the kitchen. Cutting the shell of a chestnut or maroni is quick and easy with it. I have mine attached to the magnetic strip and love to indulge in the taste of the nutty fruits together with the dog. Chestnuts, the slightly sweeter ones, are the larger fruits, while sweet chestnuts are the smaller, rounder ones. It's fun, it tastes good, and you don't have to find a roaster to enjoy this winter delicacy. Incidentally, in Madeira they are eaten salted in an iron pan. They also make a tasty liqueur out of them there, and you don't have to fly to Portugal for a good chestnut cake; Vienna has some divine ones.
Put the chestnuts in hot water for at least a quarter of an hour before using them. If there are any animals inside, you will notice it and after roasting the chestnuts will be easier to peel. Furthermore, it is advisable to put a bowl of water in the oven during the roasting process to prevent them from drying out.
Notching the ball crosswise allows access to the fruit. The best pocket warmers in really cold weather are still hot chestnuts. Many a hand will envy you for this pocket heater and may get lost in your coat... Chestnut, chestnut, chestnut, didn't Rocco Granata sing that?
