Search words

You can search for this chef's knife for a very, very long time. You will only find it here.
Because not even GÜDE itself shows it on its manufacturer page. It is a unique knife in a length of 18 cm, as it is preferably used by small and female hands. If the most sold blade dimension is between 20 and 21 cm, female creatures prefer to reach for shorter, as well as lighter versions. And then still as "Wild Damascus" .
Like a puff pastry, different layers are laid on top of each other and welded together. Hard, brittle tool steel alternates with tough nickel steel. After hardening, the individual layers have between 58 and 61 Rockwell.  The wild thing is that the product is made entirely by hand. 300 layers of a hard, albeit flexible, non-stainless steel with an elaborate etching result in "Wild Damascus".
A double bolster guarantees a balanced feel. You will recognize the swaged steel in the transition from blade to hilt, also called "boot bolster" because of its appearance. At the end of the handle the counterweight resembling a pommel.
What material would be equal to this blade?
GÜDE's choice is desert ironwood, up to 1500 years old. A very small stock obliges to use only the dead wood. Its core presents a distinctive grain. The precious wood is on the one hand difficult to work, but on the other hand it is resistant as well as weatherproof.
What happened around 500 A.D., 1500 years ago? The game of chess was developed in India, and two monks smuggled silkworm eggs from China.
Silk conquers the world. Damask came later.
Questions? Damascene or Debreziner? Both! Says
