History and Perfection in Over 120 Steps

In the late 19th century, the first snack cutlery with handle scales enclosed in steel—known as "cheek cutlery" (Backenbesteck)—was developed in Solingen, initially available only as a knife and fork. In 1910, August Merten expanded the range, and in 1928 the brand "EICHENLAUB" was officially registered. Since April 1998, production has been carried on by Windmühlenmesser Manufactur Robert Herder. All cutlery pieces are forged from a single piece of stainless chrome-vanadium steel. The matte blue-glazed blades shine cleanly with a faint blue shimmer in the light. Over 120 manual steps are required before the cutlery graces your table (Please note: Not dishwasher safe).
