Smooth honing is achieved with the velvety soft sapphire pull. However, if you apply more pressure, you will cause more steel to be removed because of the slight indentations in the rod. And so, although you have a MULTIRON from DICK, you have both fine and standard pulls in just one sharpening steel. Its oval blade shape offers a larger contact surface. In any case, you will achieve an even sharpening result with this sharpening steel. The MULTIRON is equipped with a handle protector, so that the hand can hold it even when wet, and a suspension eye.
