Timeless engineering combined with experienced history! Inspired by a true classic of the air, Böker Plus presents the ME 109 Damascus as a collector's knife with exceptional character. Based on the Messerschmitt BF-109 (often referred to as ME-109), the knife picks up on the material, shape and color of the fighter plane from the 1930s and thus creates almost a spitting image of its historical role model.

Between 1935 and 1945, some 34,000 examples of the low-wing aircraft were launched, making it one of the most widely built military aircraft in the world to this day. The special features of the Messerschmitt ME 109 are its all-metal fuselage and wings, retractable landing gear and enclosed cockpit. These achievements were considered groundbreaking at the time, giving the German Air Force strategic advantages in air combat. The special design allowed for higher loads, which allowed for higher speeds, dizzying altitudes, and aggressive turns and evasive maneuvers. The massive Daimler Benz V12 engine produced around 1000 hp, depending on the model series, and enabled top speeds of 560 km/h and more. The single-engine propeller plane was armed with two MG 17 machine guns (7.92 mm caliber) above the engine and two MG FF machine guns (20 mm caliber) on the wings.

It was not least the unmistakable lines of the Messerschmitt ME 109 that prompted Böker's development department to undertake this exciting project. The challenge was to transfer the design language and performance of the fighter plane to a knife without sacrificing elegance and practicality.

At the heart of the Böker Plus ME 109 is its distinctive damascus blade, forged by none other than damascus virtuoso Chad Nichols. The steel used for it comes from the salvaged wreckage of a Messerschmitt ME 109 Type E (Emil), which was shot down by the Royal Air Force near Ashford in the county of Kent during the Battle of Britain. Parts of the armor as well as the crankshaft provide the ideal basis for the production of a high-strength Damascus steel. The wavy wave-pool pattern is reminiscent of wake vortices, the often visible air turbulence behind flying aircraft. In the side view, the Droppoint blade comes up with some optical reminiscences of the historical fighter plane. For example, the rear part of the blade is designed as a cockpit, which was beautifully implemented by partially raising the back of the blade as well as specific recesses and jimpings. Other highlights include the nail grooves in the front area of the blade spine, which are modeled after the two MG-17 machine guns above the engine, as well as the opened flipper, which is based on the extended landing gear.

When open, the blade blends seamlessly into the pocket knife's handle, adding detail to the visual realization. The front handle scales are made of carbon fiber and feature the Toxic Storm pattern. This patchy camouflage pattern in the colors yellow, green and black was typical for the aircraft of the German Air Force at the time. Extreme reliability is promised by the Titan Frame Lock, which holds the blade securely in place even during difficult work. Despite clean lines, the handle sits comfortably in the hand thanks to ergonomic cutouts. The titanium clip is machined from solid and allows for deep-carry (tip-up/r), while the lanyard loop allows for additional attachment options.

The Böker Plus ME 109 Damascus pays homage to the pioneering work of Wilhelm Emil Messerschmitt and appropriately picks up on the original meaning of the name (Messerschmitt Messerschmied). A must for all knife collectors and friends of historic aircraft.
