A certificate is a document. From the Latin the words "certus" for sure and "facere" for make.
With this model 290 FRIEDRICH HARTKOPF confirms with a certificate that it is a handmade DAMAS POCKET KNIFE with a blade made of hand-forged Markus BALBACH Damascus steel in stainless finish. The pattern SMALL ROSES adorns the 145 layers of the elaborately produced damascus made of different materials. This was the only way to combine hardness with flexibility in the past, when there were no modern types of steel. The hilt is made of RED WOOD with an engraving plate of nickel silver. Which was an invention from China that Europe cut its teeth on copying for many years.
"We vouch for the quality of the craftsmanship as well as the selected materials with our name." HARTKOPF has been making pocket knives in Solingen since 1890.
