Back Lock. A spring on the back holds the blade of this folding knife in place. Two polished nickel silver bolsters form the frame of the pocket knife. This material, which looks like silver, came to us from China in the 17th century; it is also called alpaca or hotel silver in German. In English it is called German Silver. Presumably because the alloy was first produced in Suhl, Franconia, around 1770.
