EICHENLAUB uses German or Eastern European oak for its planking. These are considered to be the hardest woods in our region, characterised by great strength and durability.
The classic duo of a SALAD SET, consisting of a large spoon and a four-pronged fork, is used to serve a salad. It is considered serving cutlery, but not table cutlery.
The married couple August Merten founded their own cutlery manufactory, EICHENLAUB. The trade mark was officially registered in 1928. Since then, the jaw handle cutlery has been forged in the same way. Two handle scales, joined together by two rivets - in this case made of brass - and a blue-blued stainless steel blade for the knives, stainless steel for all other cutlery parts. A good 110 years after the company was founded, ROBERT HERDER WINDMÜHLENMESSER, which acquired the brand in the 1990s, now produces handle scales in twelve different versions.
