Full tang without bolsters, i.e. "Plein Manche", makes the knife lighter in weight and demands the highest art of the maker in the perfect finishing of the hilt, in this case made of juniper wood. Tough, fine-grained and firm in its structure, this wood has been protected since the mid-1930s. Its long-lasting fragrance predestines it for arts and crafts articles, once combs, today cutlery handles. And its chips are used to heat smokehouses in which fish and meat are refined. Krammet, an outdated term for juniper, is combined with forged damask, which is not rustproof. But it is all the more noble because it can be ground thinner.
Stainless, however, is the double plate, which is called "inoxydable" in French. And because the common Frenchman has always dropped half of his words under the table, only "Inox" remains. I don't want to deprive you of this half as well.
Please remember that a quietly closed spring makes the knife live longer. A clattering snapping noise when closing is not good for the mechanism. In French, they say that the spring would have a longer life if it were closed quietly.
