On December 8, 1968, the Apollo 8 spacecraft made the first manned flight to the moon, mind you, without landing on it yet. William Anders, Frank Borman and Jim Lovell were the first people ever to see the far side of the moon.
Then, on July 21, 1969, at 3:56 a.m. CET with Apollo 11, the moonboots of Neil Armststrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on lunar soil.
"That's one small step for a man, but one giant leap for mankind" was how Armstrong summed up his walk even before he could anchor the American flag into the ground. According to NASA, the shoeprint in the lunar dust would be preserved for millions of years. Is that why, from 1970, everyone wanted to wear moon boots in winter to leave their mark on the world?
One of France's best knifemakers took the epochal trip to the moon as an opportunity to create an extraordinary knife. LUNE it is called, moon means that.
Stephane RAMBAUD built a piece of a real meteorite from moon rock, which was found in Africa's Sahara, into the fly belonging to a FORGE DE LAGUIOLE. He modeled the hilt from a camel bone in the Plein Manche style, i.e. pure handle of the highest beauty without metal bolsters. Bones are considered particularly hard and have been used for this purpose since the Middle Ages. On this bone he put a moon image made of pure sterling silver. The spine of the hilt is chiseled with images of planets. BONPERTUIS, a forge that has existed since 1434, traditionally produces the T12 steel used by FORGE DE LAGUIOLE.
Stephane RAMBAUD, born in Lyon in 1968, has already been awarded the Gold Medal of the Ecole de Coutellerie in Nogent. He received the International Knife Award in Nuremberg in 2006 in the category of collector knives with his knife " L`Esquisse". RAMBAUD signs inside the handle of each specimen he makes.
The German MESSER MAGAZINE has selected this outstanding exhibit LUNE to participate in the election of the "Knife of the Year 2019". The results of this competition will be announced only in January of next year.

Fly me to the Moon, let me play among the Stars,
let me see what Spring is like on a Jupiter and Mars,
in other words hold my hand, in other words baby kiss me.
With this Frank Sinatra sang adequately about the flight to the moon.

I offer you this masterpiece of the knife maker's art.
Be ahead of your time and reserve your moon flight in the sharp store. Your captain is called
