A corkscrew with bog oak wood handles. Such things have been in this world for a few thousand years, first above and then under water. Exposed to gases in a wet environment, the wood changes its colour. Salvaging and drying it is very costly. Both in terms of material and time. Knotholes, silicification, splits, are always unique and natural.
The age is around 5000 years. In this model, the steel is polished to a shine, which is also called "brilliant".
A waiter's cutlery set from the French manufacturer FORGE DE LAGUIOLE is characterised by beauty and functionality. It combines typical features of Laguiole knives, such as the shepherd's cross and the bee on the back of the handle. But because beauty alone is not enough, the technique of the instrument is perfected. The spindle, for example, must have a groove in order to manoeuvre the cork safely out of the neck of the bottle. In addition, there is a fivefold spiral to be able to penetrate deep enough into the wine gob. The empty space inside this spiral is called the "soul". The more pointed the end is filed, the easier it is to drill the lifter into the cork. Jaws made of steel are fitted to protect the wood of the handle. This sommelier cutlery can be used to pull corks and to free the neck of the bottle from the metal foil. To be prepared for this, the waiter's cutlery is carried in a matching case made of black leather. All handcrafted in France.
