To determine the blade, the ring must be turned. Because this is as simple as it is functional, the system has a proper name: Virobloc. Developed by Marcel OPINEL in 1955.
With the limited Edition ESCAPADE collection, Opinel has again had a series of three knives created. For this, Jeremy Groshens was hired, who travels the country in France with a trailer built in 1972 and offers his services as a tattoo artist. ESCAPADE represents a longing to break away from the everyday and enjoy nature and adventure. Groshen's illustrations are inspired by the landscapes, mountains, fauna and flora. ELEVATION - the motif ELEVATION, which translates roughly as high relief, is unmistakably inspired by Japanese printmaking. The Opinel ELEVATION testifies respect for landscapes and mountains, which are often spiritually revered, as known by the term sacred mountains. The elevation profile of several mountains looks harmonious and minimalist at the same time, Jeremy Groshen plays with soft lines, colors and shades. The Opinel ELEVATION reveals itself in full beauty only upon closer inspection. The Opinel Edition Escapade No 08 ELEVATION is limited to 7600 pieces worldwide, the knives are individually numbered. Like the regular Opinel No 08, the knife has a blade made of modified Sandvik steel 12C27 and the blade can be locked with the Virobloc lock.
